Game #2: Week 3, Giants vs 49ers, 1 pm

After traveling to Chicago to take on the Bears, the Giants will return home to face the 2019 NFC Champions 49ers. The Niners are coming off their seventh Super Bowl appearance where they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 49ers are led by Kyle Shanahan who runs a versatile and multiple formation offense.  The Giants must contain and limit Jimmy Garroppolo’s presence in the pocket and look to capitalize on any opportunities given to the defense.

The 49ers have a dynamic and deep running back group with Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, Kyle Juszczyk, and Jeff Wilson. The Giants will need discipline and intelligence from their linebackers to stop their potent run game.

George Kittle is coming off a breakout All-Pro season and he is one of the NFL’s most well-rounded and feared tight ends. Deebo Samuel is a home run threat every time he touches the ball and rookie Brandon Aiyuk will keep the Giants secondary tested on their feet.

On defense, the 49ers bring back a fearsome and intimidating unit that can wreak havoc on any NFL offense. Led by the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year Nick Bosa, the 49ers defensive line plays fast and physical and goes hunting in opposing backfields. The Giants must be ready to counter pressure coming off the edge from Bosa and Dee Ford alongside interior pressure from the play of Arik Armstead and 2020 first-round pick Javon Kinlaw.

The 49ers also have two fast, playmaking linebackers in Fred Warner and Kwon Alexander alongside All-Pro veteran corner Richard Sherman.

This is a very talented 49ers team that is ready and proven capable to compete for a Super Bowl.

As the old saying goes, “To be the best, you must beat the best”.

Right now, the Niners are the cream of the NFC’s crop and if the NY Giants want to get back to Super Bowl aspirations, they must play up to the level the 2019 Niners played each and every week.
