3. RB Javon Leake

A player we profiled earlier this offseason, runningback Javon Leake has to be wondering how he didn’t end up being drafted. An explosive runner, Leake averaged a staggering 7.9 yards-per-carry in college while scoring a touchdown every 8.5 attempts.

Leake was unlucky at Maryland as he was stuck behind 2020 fourth-round round draft pick, Anthony McFarland. The 6’1, 210 pound ‘back still managed to put together numerous highlight-reel worthy plays and was a huge asset on kick returns as he added another 3 touchdowns in that department.

The former Maryland stud was given the third-highest guaranteed money of any undrafted player for the NY Giants as the team is paying him $75K for his 2020 services – that’s no small investment considering how much undrafted players usually get.

I believe Leake will start the season as the teams #3 runningback as this regime seems to have tired on former fourth-rounder, Wayne Gallman.

He should also strongly compete for kick returning duties as he’s already shown he’s lethal when given the opportunity.
