2. TE Evan Engram

I understand this selection will be met with plenty of ‘oohs and ahhs’ by many of NY Giants nation, and that’s understandable. However, I’m betting that Evan Engram finally is able to stay healthy this season after taking so much time off and ends up being a massive weapon for us — something he’s shown he can be when healthy.

It’s been well documented that Jason Garrett gets the most out of his tight ends, and not just with Jason Witten either, as he was able to get big play out of the previously relatively unknown Blake Jarwin as well. Evan Engram is an offensive coordinator’s dream as he’s able to be moved all over the field and is a mismatch nightmare for defenses.

I expect Garrett to carve out a nice role for him, and would it be so crazy to actually see him be the team’s #1 pass target? I don’t think it would be. ‘Eazy E’ has missed a total of 14 games (and parts of many others) out of 48 possible career games played. Hopefully, this is the year those nagging injuries have healed up for the 25-year-old.

When you break down Engram’s numbers on a sixteen-game average, the results are silly. They work out to 74 catches, 960 yards and 5.6 TD’s – numbers that would put him right in the upper echelons of the NFL tight end group.

The addition of Levine Toilolo could prove huge for Engram’s success as he could focus on more of the blocking, letting Engram do what he does best and split the seams; running right by linebackers and being too big for safties.

Even though the Giants recently picked up his fifth-year option – meaning he’ll be here at least two more seasons- time is running out quickly for the uber-athletic tight end to show what he can do.

A Pro Bowl nod would go a long way towards that.
