3. Daniel Jones could finally have healthy weapons around him

The NY Giants had only three games with four of Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard, and Darius Slayton on the field together in 2019. They played zero games with all five players. How much better can Jones be with healthy offensive weapons to play with?

Saquon Barkley ended up playing in 13 games last season, but he was not himself in many of them. He lacked the typical explosion and confidence after returning early from a high-ankle sprain. When Barkley is fully healthy, like in Jones’ top performance vs. Washington in week 16, the offense as a whole can reach a new level.

Jones’ second most dangerous weapon is Evan Engram. The league’s fastest tight end only played in eight games last season. When healthy, Engram can make life easier for Jones and is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball.

Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram should be the focal points in Jason Garrett’s Air Coryell system. Garrett successfully utilized his running backs and tight ends in the passing game during his head coaching tenure in Dallas. Jones is likely to make more throws downfield to his best players.

Another fast and dangerous weapon that Jones can count on for big plays is Darius Slayton. The speedy rookie out of Auburn caught eight touchdown passes in his first season with Big Blue. It is obvious that Jones and Slayton have great chemistry and that should continue to develop.

Daniel Jones became the first quarterback to throw a touchdown pass versus the Patriots in week 7 of last season, and that was a game played without Barkley, Engram, and Sterling Shepard. In that game and many others, DJ played well despite a sub-par supporting cast.

In 2020, Danny Dimes should have healthier and better receivers to throw the ball to. More importantly, he already has physical reps in the NFL and he should get more time in the pocket.
