Daniel Jones was 2nd in the NFL in vertical TD passes with 20+ Air Yards

Daniel Jones’ nine vertical touchdown passes with 20 plus air yards ranked only behind Patrick Mahomes in 2019. According to Sports Info Solutions, Daniel Jones was the NFL’s most accurate deep ball thrower on passes with 20+ air yards. With healthier weapons around him, his completion percentage on those throws should increase in 2020.

Jones played at Duke without NFL talent at wide receiver. To make completions downfield, he needed to be deadly accurate. His receivers had trouble getting much separation in the ACC.

Danny Dimes spent much of the season throwing to backup wide receivers who also had trouble getting separation. He still ranked 3rd in the NFL in touchdown passes on the road with 18. In just twelve starts, Jones put up very good numbers on a bad football team.

The Giants should be better in 2020, but they are unlikely to make the playoffs. The Big Blue defense is young and unproven and might give up a lot of points again. If that is the case, Jones will be forced to air it out again.

With a better and healthier supporting cast, a better offensive line, and a new vertical passing offense that suits his strengths, Daniel Jones could put up impressive numbers in New York. He would not be a bad pickup late in your fantasy football draft this summer.
