1. RB Wayne Gallman

A topic discussed on this site for quite some time now, runnigback Wayne Gallman is one of the few last men standing from the Jerry Reese era. While that alone was probably enough to guarantee he wouldn’t end up being with the NY Giants long term, his fate was effectively sealed when Gettleman selected Saquon Barkley with the #2 overall pick in the 2018 draft.

Gallman was thrust into action due to injuries in his rookie season and performed quite well, leading many to believe he had a future with Big Blue either as a feature back or a part of a committee. In 2017, the former Clemson stud put up an impressive 669 total yards (193 receiving) in spot duty to the tune of a 4.3 yards-per-carry average.

Since then, the wheels have fallen off as injuries and being stuck behind Saquon Barkley have hampered Gallman’s involvement and success in the offense. This offseason, Dave Gettleman went out and signed veteran Dion Lewis who figures to slid right into the #2 spot that Gallman wanted to badly.

Depending on how many ‘backs the G-men will carry (you can bet it will only be three as fullback Elijah Penny can play in spot duty), Gallman will be battling for a single spot with second-year man Jonathan Hilliman and impressive undrafted rookie Javon Leake.

Leake was a high-priority undrafted free agent signing and guaranteed a decent amount of money, and I’m expecting this regime to finally move on from Gallman in favor of the young playmaker.

Chances he’s cut: 60%
