For now, it seems center Spencer Pulley is just being kept around as an emergency for the NY Giants should one of their transitioning prospects not pan out. Big Blue is trying the unconventional – but often successful – route of attempting to move a guard over to the center position.

Nick Gates and rookies Shane Lemieux and Kyle Murphy all have a shot to land the starting center position despite never really playing the position.

Pulley was originally grabbed off waivers by the NY Giants in 2018 only to start nine mostly unimpressive games. His efforts were still enough to land a 3/$8M contract, but only the first year was guaranteed.

In other words, the NY Giants can move on from Pulley with zero dead money attached and that will likely be the outcome should one of the youngsters show they can snap the ball and handle the pivot position.

There’s really no rush for the team to do anything on the matter now, as it only helps to keep him around for insurance purposes during the offseason. However, its a solid bet that he’s cut in August while Big Blue frees up $2.5M in the process.
