It’s undeniable that the NY Giants have a talented young core of players on their roster. We examine five year-two players who could have a breakout season.

There are a plethora of reasons why NY Giants fans should be optimistic about what the future holds for the franchise. Just two seasons ago, the franchise was mired in a disastrous salary cap situation and was void of talented depth at many key positions.

After years of former NY Giants general manager, Jerry Reese, missing on a high percentage of his draft picks, the team was forced to overpay for free-agent acquisitions in an attempt to plug massive holes throughout the roster.

Additionally, a huge portion of the salary cap was allocated to Eli Manning, who was on the back end of his Hall of Fame-caliber career, the offensive line was in shambles after almost a decade of neglect, the team lacked depth at many of the skill positions, especially on the defensive side of the ball, and valuable salary-cap space was being used for aging veteran players.

While the past two seasons were difficult for NY Giants fans to endure, there seems to finally be a light at the end of the tunnel. Although it is still early and the sample size remains too small to adequately judge them, the three draft classes under Dave Gettleman seem to have significantly bolstered this roster.

The NY Giants have also managed to rid themselves of most of the hefty salaries (minus Nate Solder) that were a boon on the salary cap situation, instead of utilizing the money they had to sign solid young players at a number of key positions.

Additionally, the team seems to have found their franchise quarterback of the future in Daniel Jones, they have significantly upgraded their offensive line through the draft, allowing it to become much younger and more athletic in the process, and they have addressed a number of glaring holes on the defense.

While there is still room for the team to improve in areas such as their pass rush, perhaps at the linebacker position and maybe by adding a bit more depth at a couple of positions such as wide receiver and safety, this team appears to be exponentially better on paper.

Last year’s stellar draft class is a major component in what looks to be a rapid rebuild process orchestrated by general manager Dave Gettleman. A number of last year’s picks either had stellar seasons as rookies or at the very least were significant contributors who showed flashes of being key players for the team moving forward.

With that in mind, here are five year-two players who could be poised to have a breakout season in 2020 for the NY Giants:
