Week 2: @ Chicago Bears

Coming off a primetime MNF matchup to start the season, Big Blue gets a short week to prepare for their first road game in Chicago.

This fact alone will test the team’s maturity and ability to handle some adversity, especially if they are coming off a loss.

All Trubisky jokes aside, the Bears still finished 8-8 last year, and like the Steelers will bring back a very good defense. In 2019 they had the 8th ranked pass defense in terms of yards per play and had the No. 4 scoring defense in the NFL giving up just shy of 19 points/game.

Andrew Thomas and the offensive line will have to deal with Khalil Mack lining up on the edge while the receivers will have to make plays with Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller patrolling the secondary.

While the addition of Nick Foles creates an interesting QB situation with Trubisky regressing in  2019, the offense still has some sneaky weapons that can be problematic.

Jimmy Graham is hardly the tight end he was in his prime, but if Jason Witten can still find ways to torch Big Blue then so can Graham. The addition of speedster Ted Ginn Jr. joining Allen Robinson on the outside with David Montgomery in the backfield can cause a lot of mismatches with solid QB play.

Last year’s matchup with the Bears was a great example of why they can be such a tough matchup for the NY Giants. The offense was held to just 14 points as Mack recorded a strip-sack and Allen Robinson tallied a season-high 131 yards.
