5. QB Daniel Jones
Adding Daniel Jones to this list was a tough choice for me, as I already feel he proved more than enough in his rookie season to inspire confidence that he can and will be the QB of the future for the NY Giants – and a damn good one.
He only played in 12 games and almost broke the rookie season passing touchdown record for Pete’s sake, tossing 24 TD’s against 12 interceptions — you’d have to be nuts to call that an unsuccessful rookie season passing wise.
I mean, the guy had a higher QBR than Tom Brady in 2019.
Now comes to annoying – but must had – conversation about his ball security in terms of fumbles. I truly believe it had more to do with the mediocre offensive line play than anything else as he didn’t show these problems in college and he was continuously under assault all 2019 long in the pocket, sometimes being stripped of the football in less than two seconds.
So, his position on this list has little to do with how well I feel he played in 2019 and more to do with how much he means to this franchise, with the added worry of the fumbling issues.
By all indications, Jones has lived up to his reputation as an insanely hard worker and has been going into overdrive to correct his problems, working all across the country with different coaches and players to up his game.
I believe in Daniel Jones, and I am more confident than anyone else on this list that he will prove he was worth every bit of that controversial #6 overall draft pick.
