QB4/Practice squad: Case Cookus

A name most NY Giants fans aren’t likely familiar with just yet, undrafted rookie Case Cookus is a very intriguing young quarterback prospect that should have NY Giants fans excited. I truly believe either Cookus or Cooper Rush will be the backup quarterback of the future for this team.

Case Cookus started and ended his college career off with a bang, as during his freshman season at Northern Arizona University he won the Jerry Rice Award, given to the best player which is given to the most outstanding freshman in the football championship subdivision based off him throwing 37 TD’s against just 5 interceptions.

Injuries plagued him during his middling years of college, but Cookus went out with a bang in his redshirt senior season accumulating 4,095 passing yards, 31 TD’s, and just 7 picks. All told, his TD to INT ratio in his college career was 105-21; even in the college football subdivision that is flat out remarkable.

He’s also 6’4” and is mobile — Jason Garrett is going to have a lot of fun with his newest undrafted quarterback project.
