Another NY Giants draft pick that was thought to be a major steal after being selected at the top of the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Will Hernandez regressed along with the rest of the Big Blue offensive line in 2019.

Thought to be a mauling, run-blocking specialist, Hernandez has actually turned into the opposite as he has struggled mightily in the run game but been better than average at pass protection. His Pro Football Focus run-blocking grade dropped 16 points (a very significant amount) in year two, although I’m going to go ahead and put some of that on having to play next to Nate Solder.

There is no doubt that year three is going to be an extremely pivotal year in Hernandez’s NY Giants career, and after his display last year it seems like a long shot on the surface that he could go from mediocre to Pro Bowl in one year.

But Will Hernandez isn’t just like every other middling guard in the league; he played at a smaller school so it makes a little sense that it would take him some time to get adjusted to the big leagues and he’s got just about the nastiest mean streak in the league.
