ESPN recently came out with a piece ranking all 32 teams’ future prospects and the NY Giants finished very low on the list.
Just when you were starting to feel good about the future prospects and possible triumphs of the NY Giants organization, big brother just had to come down on us, didn’t they?
In a recent ESPN piece that labeled ‘NFL Future Power Rankings’ where all 32 teams are judged on a variety of factors to determine which of the franchises have the brightest futures, 1-32, the NY Giants slotted in near the bottom of the list.
All the way down at 29th, the NY Giants can only look down upon the Chicago Bears, the Carolina Panthers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Making these rankings hurt even more, directly above the NY Giants are the Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals, and the New York Jets.
In a slight reality check for all Big Blue fans, this list that takes into account total roster outside of the quarterback, quarterback, coaching staff, front office and the 2020 draft gives us an outsider’s perspective into where the NY Giants sit in the NFL landscape right now — and it ain’t good.
I would say most reasonable Giants fans would agree the team is in rebuilding mode, but since we are in that mode and have made some solid moves of late, that most would rank the team much higher on this list as you’re basically guessing which teams will be good in the 2021-2024 time period, and most Big Blue fans are very optimistic about those upcoming years.
Let’s take a dive into just how ESPN came to this determination.
