NY Giants 55-Man 2020 season roster projection by position

Safeties (3)
Who’s in: Jabrill Peppers, Xavier McKinney, and Sean Chandler
Who’s out: Mark McLaurin, Jaquarius Landrews
Analysis:
The NY Giants seem set at safety and should feel good about the players they have at the position. Jabrill Peppers looks set for his second year with NY and he will bring an edge to the secondary.
Xavier McKinney is looking to make an instant impact in his rookie season. He is a smart, sound, and well-rounded football player that will see the field early and often this year.
While keeping only three safties may seem like a very low number, the NY Giants have a bunch of players that can slide over and play the position should one of their solid starters go down, namely Julian Love.
In addition to Love, Nate Ebner is a safety who we list as a special teamer here because that’s his main duty, but he can also fill in should the injuries get really bad in the middle of a 2020 game.
I expect to see a lot of Julian Love on the field in a variety of roles from safety to slot corner and outside corner. His versatile play will allow him to thrive as a weapon in this defense.
Sean Chandler showed enough to make the team as an undrafted free agent back in 2018. He will provide depth and help on special teams.
To wrap it things up, you can really count the NY Giants as having five safeties on the roster, with Chandler being the clear-cut backup at this moment.
