What does the timeline on the NY Giants making a final decision look like now?

Even though this could be a realistic potential time for the NY Giants to move on from DeAndre Baker for good I still believe they’re going to hold on to him for the long-haul in hopes on possibly getting their 2019 first-round pick back in Big Blue should he somehow come out of his unscathed.

According to Baker’s lawyer – who has bungled this case since the very beginning and is basically a cheap imitation of Saul Goodman – the legal team plans to bring this case to trial, meaning this whole thing could go on for well over a year.

The lawyer had this to say to the NY Post about how the legal team will handle this case from here on out.

Via the NY Post:

"“In my opinion, I’m shocked there’s charges but it’s not going to change our day,” Patel told The Post. “We’ve been prepared for trial since minute one on the case. “I still predict a dismissal, after a full trial. Based up on what the state has put in the media, questioning the four individuals, whether they took bribes or didn’t take bribes or not, they have ruined the credibility of their own witnesses. They’ve done nothing but help us investigating the witnesses and payoffs. We just look forward to cross-examining all of them.”"

Patel’s predictions should hold little water with anyone right now as he’s beat his chest from the beginning about having witness statements exonerating Baker (didn’t materialize as they were paid off) and that Baker would quickly have his case dismissed due to lack of evidence (obviously has not happened).

If the NY Giants keep Baker past today, expect them to keep him for the duration of the trial as it seems all the information that could have come out so far has, and they seem to be taking the ‘innocent until proven guilty’ approach which their large investment.

Joe Judge didn’t come out and even make a direct statement on DeAndre Baker until this past week, and it couldn’t have made the DeAndre Baker team feel good as he rarely mentions players directly by name and you could just tell from his tone he was very unhappy.
