1.  OT Andrew Thomas

It goes without saying that New York Giants fans had high expectations for Andrew Thomas when the team drafted him fourth overall in April. Over the past week, however, New York Giants incumbent starting left tackle Nate Solder opted out of the 2020 season.

While this means that Thomas will be the starting left tackle in 2020 like me and so many other New York Giants fans had hoped for, it means that Thomas’ first game experience in the NFL will be week one as opposed to week one of the preseason.

Thomas will be thrown into the fire early this season, with the following defenders being on the schedule in the first six games: TJ Watt, Bud Dupree, Khalil Mack, Robert Quinn, Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead, Aaron Donald, DeMarcus Lawrence, Montez Sweat, Chase Young, and Ryan Kerrigan.

Needless to say, that is a rough gauntlet to run for even an all-pro without a preseason warm-up, let alone as a rookie who won’t have the usual offseason or preseason to get up to speed.
