New York Giants: Which players will suffer most with no preseason
6. Day Three Picks & UDFAs
Between day three of the 2020 NFL Draft and undrafted free agents, the Giants added 23 to their roster. While it’s expected that the huge majority of those players will not make the final roster. However, preseason is usually where some of those late picks and UDFAs can solidify their spots on the roster.
Guys like Derrick Dillon out of LSU, and Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor from Ohio State are talents that could have really made names for themselves and secured at least one of the available roster spots during preseason.
The Giants stocked up on linebackers, on and off-ball, during the end of the draft and undrafted signing time. While practice could help determine who makes the final roster, the Giants certainly were hoping to have a preseason to test out live game action.
The Giants also added offensive lineman Shane Lemieux on day three. Lemieux played guard at Oregon but had reportedly been working on handling snaps as a center during his pre-draft training to make himself more versatile. A preseason could have helped him earn a spot even as the starting center on this line.
