Recently @GMENHQ we took a fan poll regarding who the majority of the fans would like to be the defensive captain; the results were surprising.
It’s no secret to anyone that the NY Giants are one of the youngest teams in the league, and that especially applies to the defense. Right now, Markus Golden is the elder statesman of the defense at just 29-years-old as the young, talented defense will look to take a major leap in 2020.
However, to make that leap, the NY Giants defense is going to need a bonafide leader and captain to lead the “puppies” as GM Dave Gettleman would say.
It won’t be a surprise to many that my top pick for captain would in fact be Markus Golden, as you’ll never find a player with a bigger motor that gets after it and sets the tone for his teammates as much as he does.
As you can see in this video below, Golden is constantly hyping his teammates up while also giving pertinent advice to young players on the bench; that sounds like a leader to me.
