Will the NY Giants be aggressive on waivers after the roster frenzies are over?

Every year, the week before the NFL regular season starts, the league goes into a frenzy as mass cuts occur and countless players all flip-flop all over the league onto new teams. Several veterans get cut for financial reasons, going younger at the position, or simply taking another direction.

Many young guys will be cut this year that didn’t get the proper chance to showcase their skills and show what they are about. It is imperative the NY Giants have done their extensive, thorough research on guys all over the league. Talented players of all different ages, sizes, and backgrounds will be available and hungry to find a place to make their mark. Many 2020 draft picks and prospects will be cut so scooping up some of these guys is another thing to keep an eye on.

The Giants’ scouts spend all year evaluating both draft prospects, undrafted prospects/free agents, and veteran players around the league. There will be players available that aren’t right now that will catch the Giants’ eye. They must be confident with their evaluations and be aggressive with their signings with a clear plan in mind on how to use these guys properly.

Dave Gettleman has made a living out of signing guys post-final cuts with Big Blue. This constant roster churning is a process Gettleman has made into a habit. I would expect them to still actively target a veteran cornerback, such as Prince Amukamara, or a new guy who gets cut this weekend. They should still look to target a higher-pedigree, proven center, and possibly sign another established pass-rusher.

This will be a very active, busy end of the week for the Giants. This is another big part of the shape and mold of the team’s 2020 roster. Stay tuned for all the cuts and signings this weekend. You don’t want to miss it.
