The NY Giants face a critical Week 2 matchup in the Windy City of Chicago.  Let’s talk about who needs to have a big game Sunday for Big Blue to win.

The NY Giants lost their Week 1 affair with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. Unfortunately, the lights of Metlife Stadium were too bright for this young, but talented Giants team.

The “Fightin’ Joe Judges” (copyright: Dave Gettleman) definitely came to fight in the first half and most of the second half. The defense had a stingier edge to their spine that we haven’t seen in a few years. Although it’s always disappointing to lose Week 1 especially after this crazy offseason, I feel a lot better after this opening week than in previous years.

Last season, the NY Giants didn’t even show up to play in Dallas Week one, they struggled and played poorly in the 2018 opener against Jacksonville, and again barely showed up to play Dallas in 2017. This game had the feel of a hopefully different team.

Some major takeaways from the game are that Big Blue was competitive for three-quarters of football before the game got taken away from them. I thought Daniel Jones played well besides two costly turnovers.

The special teams unit had a big impact and almost had an even bigger one as Jabrill Peppers nearly sprung a punt return for a touchdown.

Unfortunately, the same sloppy play and inexperience caught up to NY.

There is much room for improvement, so let’s break down some players here who must have a bounce-back game this Sunday for the NY Giants to come away with a win.
