NY Giants Studs and Duds vs. Washington: Kyler Fackrell delivers, Daniel Jones struggles
STUD – WR Darius Slayton
Slayton continues to be the Giants’ most lethal offensive weapon, and Daniel Jones’ favorite target.
Sunday, Slayton broke open by at least two steps against his man, and Jones hit him in stride with a perfectly placed pass for a 23-yard touchdown to extend the Giants’ lead to 10-0 with 1:36 remaining in the first quarter.
“I think anytime you can go ahead and make plays early in a game to go ahead and give yourselves a little bit of a lead and an edge,” Judge said. “That’s always big. We always try to get Darius involved as much as we can, along with all of our other skill players. I just think [Offensive Coordinator] Jason [Garrett] made a great call right there, [QB] Daniel [Jones] made a great throw and Darius made a great catch.”
Slayton paced the Giants with two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown. Through the first six games, Slayton has caught Jones’ first three touchdown passes of this season and continues to be the Giants’ best option to stretch the field.
Jones’ season might be off to a better start if he could find someone other than Slayton to step up in the receiving corps
