NY Giants added to their 2021 NFL Draft war chest by trading Markus Golden to the Arizona Cardinals Friday

After dealing outside linebacker Markus Golden to the Cardinals for a 2021 sixth round pick, here’s a look at the current NY Giants 2021 draft picks.

The Giants still have about a week and a half until the trade deadline on November 3, so they could look to add additional picks by shipping out veterans after a 1-6 start to the season.

If the season ended today, the Giants would select second overall, behind only the Jets. Seven other teams still have just one win, though, so there could be some movement after Sunday’s games.

Giants 2021 Draft Picks as of October 23, 2020

Round 1 – Giants

Round 2 – Giants

Round 3 – Giants

Round 4* – Giants

Round 6  – Giants

Round 6 – Cardinals

*If the Giants re-sign Leonard Williams to a contract extension before the start of the 2021 league year, they will lose their fourth round pick to the Jets and keep their fifth round pick instead.

Through seven games this year, Golden had 1.5 sacks and 10 tackles. In his six year career, he’s notched 30.5 sacks in 69 games.

Originally drafted by the Cardinals in the second round, Golden heads back to the desert where he racked up a career-best 12.5 sacks in 2016.

He spent the first four years of his career in Arizona. The Giants acquired Golden via free agency in 2019, and he hit double digits with 10 sacks last year to go along with 72 tackles.

This year, the pass rusher was off to a slower start, and after losing to the Eagles on Thursday, the Giants find themselves at 1-6 and looking more towards the future than the present. At 4-2, the Cardinals are looking to contend in a highly competitive NFC West.

Considering that the Giants didn’t give up any assets to acquire Golden, as well as the fact that he hit double digits in sacks last year, it’s hard to be too disappointed in the moves in a vacuum.
