Eagles Trade Rumors: Minor Move for a Linebacker?

The Eagles should be selling, too, but they don’t have much to sell. Zach Ertz was the piece that made the most sense, but he can’t be moved due to injury. The Birds would love to get rid of Alshon Jeffery, but there doesn’t seem to be much interest around the league.

On the other hand, they shouldn’t be pursuing a short-term rental with such limited short-term prospects. So the only thing that makes sense is picking up a player who’s contract runs at least through 2021 who Philadelphia thinks could contribute beyond this year.

They are fine on offense if they get healthy, so if they’re gambling on this year they have to take their chances on that and bolster the defense. The defensive line is fine, but their linebackers could use some help. The Jet Press thinks linebacker Avery Williamson would only fetch a sixth or seventh round pick, and that’s a price the Eagles might want to consider.

Through six games, Williamson has 50 tackles this year and he’s gone over 90 in each of the last four years.
