OG Kevin Zeitler

Zeitler has been the Giants’ best and most accomplished offensive lineman, there’s little questioning that given Cam Fleming’s inconsistency and rookie tackle Andrew Thomas’ growing pains.

If the Giants are concerned about the impact trading Zeitler will have on the offensive line overall and quarterback Daniel Jones’ development, a simple solution would be to move Fleming to guard, start promising rookie Matt Peart at right tackle or give Zeitler’s vacated snaps to rookie Shane Lemieux or Spencer Pulley.

Zeitler accounts for $14 million against the cap next season, the highest cap number currently on the roster. If the Giants’ mission statement is to clear up cap space in preparation both for the salary cap to drop in 2021 and to create flexibility to be big players on the open market for premier talent, moving Zeitler is the most productive means to those ends.
