DL Dalvin Tomlinson

Tomlinson’s name has sudden begun churning as the rumor mill picks up speed, but moving on from the 26-year-old defensive lineman just as he’s entering his prime would be counterproductive to the Giants’ rebuild.

One of the most underrated players at his position across the league, Tomlinson is the Giants’ highest-graded defensive lineman and has been their most consistent front-seven player the past three seasons.

If anything, Gettleman and the Giants should be opening long-term contract talks with Tomlinson. As the Giants’ offense has struggled to consistently move the football — and score — the Giants’ defense has been steadily improving thanks in large part to Tomlinson, Williams, and Dexter Lawrence consistently winning up front. This group should be the foundation of the rebuild.

Verdict: Don’t trade
