Buccaneers’ Jason Pierre-Paul on NY Giants: ‘I’m coming for their necks’
Buccaneers DE Jason Pierre Paul has a message for the NY Giants head of Monday’s game
Veteran defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been instrumental to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ dominance on defense this season, but he has a message for his former team ahead of Monday night’s game against the NY Giants.
"“I’m coming for their necks,” Pierre-Paul told reporters Friday. “They know that.“Eli’s not there no more, so I won’t have to pick him up and say ‘Eli, man, you good?’ I’m coming for their necks, man. They know that … I’m going to Monday Night Football and going to destroy the Giants. That’s what I want to do as an individual.”"
Pierre-Paul was traded by the Giants to the Buccaneers back in March 2018 in exchange for a third-round pick that GM Dave Gettleman used to select defensive lineman B.J. Hill.
Sidelined due to injury when the teams met last season, Pierre-Paul was downright dominant in his return to East Rutherford in 2018, producing 1.5 sacks and seven tackles against the Giants.
Through the Buccaneers’ first six games, Pierre-Paul has 5.5 sacks, one tackle for loss, and 21 total tackles. Had he not been traded, Pierre-Paul would currently lead the Giants in sacks.
Monday night, Pierre’s Buccaneers enter as the NFC South division leaders, and can drive a stake in the Giants’ fading hopes of making up ground in the NFC East with a victory that would torpedo New York to 1-7.
