NY Giants’ Postseason Hopes Depend on These 8 Players
LB Blake Martinez needs to continue to be a tackling machine
With 96 total tackles (T-1st), 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble recorded in his first 10 games with the Giants, Blake Martinez has proven himself as the kind of defensive playmaker the Giants have lacked for some time now.
One of the few free agent acquisitions made by Gettleman, Martinez’s signing – along with James Bradberry and Logan Ryan – has paid off for the Giants defense and may prove to be the difference between a playoff spot in a wide open NFC East this season.
His leadership, and strength in the middle of the field, has permeated throughout the defense. His football IQ and instincts on the field have allowed him to expand his range all over the field while shutting down opponents attempts to move up the middle of the field.
While his stellar play could earn him a Pro-Bowl selection this season, it’s his contributions on defense that might just carry the team closer to a division title in these final 6 games.
