Who is Joe Ruback? An interview with NY Giants super fan License Plate Guy.
GMEN HQ: What’s the most gratifying part of being such a diehard fan? Is it the wins and experiencing the game and sidelines from the front row? Or is it the relationships you have developed over the years with players, team personnel, and fans?
LPG: I don’t think anybody’s actually asked me that question like that.
It’s a bit of both. It’s awesome seeing the games from the front row. I listen to the coaches and the players, whether they’re cursing or not, or whether they’re talking about strategies. I hear everything.
It’s amazing to be right there in the mix, but I would give all of that up. I’m talking about all of my relationships with these guys for a Giants victory. I mean, I’m not doing this selfishly, I try and give back.
I want the Giants to win. If that means giving up friendships for that, I’m down with that. Everybody calls me a Homer, anyway.
I’m always going to pick up the win, but it is cool having these friendships. Four or five, six times a year, going to either Brandon Jacob’s house, Chase Blackburn’s house, or Ahmad Bradshaw’s house. Those things are cool. But I’d give it all up for the Giants to win another Super Bowl.
