Graham Gano’s perfect return … For imperfect special teams

New York was a disaster on special teams today and it almost cost them the game against a team starting their third-string quarterback.

The Giants gave up the biggest play in Cincinnati’s team history. On the Bengals’ first touch of the game, Brandon Wilson’s 103-yard touchdown evened the game early.

The start of the second half wasn’t much better.  Jabrill Peppers made the decision to let the punt bounce behind him with a Bengals player picking it up and pinning New York deep. The Bengals also ran a successful fake punt at the end of the third quarter. Special teams will definitely hear from Coach Judge this week.

The lone bright spot, Graham Gano. After defeating COVID-19 Gano was able to tie the game at halftime, hitting a 49-yard field goal. Gano completed his twenty-fourth consecutive field goal, four for the day, by the end of the game.
