Out of the league since suffering a season-ending knee injury last summer, Stanton has plenty of experience.

The 2007 second-round pick of the Detroit Lions, Stanton has appeared in 38 games for the Lions and Arizona Cardinals.

A career 52.4 passer, Stanton proved capable of being a serviceable backup and spot starter during his time with the Cardinals. In 2017, Stanton passed for 894 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions.

Perhaps what might make Stanton a fit for the Giants is that he has a bit of mobility, and has scored 18 rushing touchdowns in his career. As designed quarterback runs and RPOs have become a chief tenet of Garrett’s scheme in recent weeks, Stanton’s veteran stability and mobility might help get the Giants through.
