NY Giants defensive lineman Leonard Williams was named NFC Defensive Player of The Week after producing 2.5 sacks against the Seattle Seahawks

NY Giants defensive lineman Leonard Williams has been named NFC Defensive Player of The Week after his standout performance in Sunday’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Williams produced a career-high 2.5 sacks of Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, including one on the final drive of the game that helped seal the NY Giants’ 17-12 victory.

“That guy is a man,” Giants head coach Joe Judge said of Williams after Sunday’s game. “That dude is a man.”

Playing under the franchise tag this season, Williams is in the midst of the most productive season of his career, leading the Giants with 8.5 sacks.

Beyond the impact of his production on the field, Judge believes that Williams is blossoming into one of the defense’s leaders.

“He gives us a lot of versatility on the defense because of his skill-set,” Judge explained. “Obviously, there’s statistics on the field that you see, but what you don’t see is what kind of guy he is to coach, what kind of teammate he is away from it. This guy helps everyone raise their level of preparation and play.”
