This is the game plan Giants should deploy with Daniel Jones

Depending on Garrett’s recovery from COVID-19, and Daniel Jones’ ability to return from an injured right hamstring and sprained left ankle, there’s a chance that the Giants will get a chance to see Kitchens call a game with the second-year quarterback behind center.

It would be a shame if they didn’t.

For much of this season, the Giants’ offense has been stuck in neutral and boasted the 31st-ranked scoring offense 29th ranked red zone offense, scoring touchdowns on just 50 percent of trips inside the 20-yard line.

With Garrett on the headset, the Giants’ route tree became predictable and anecdotally did not push the ball downfield nearly as often as Kitchens did with McCoy on Sunday. McCoy completed 19-of-31 passes for 221 yards.

McCoy averaged nearly 12-yards per completion, compared to Jones’ 10.3 average this season.

It is becoming apparent that Garrett is not the long-term answer at offensive coordinator, and the Giants would certainly benefit from getting a chance to see what Jones is able to do with Kitchens designing and calling a gameplan.
