The NY Giants haven’t been part of Sunday Night Football on NBC in over two years, but this week they return to the National Football League’s most popular time slot. Ahead of their primetime game, let’s look at their most memorable SNF on NBC moments.
The NY Giants were a fixture on Sunday Night Football on NBC since its inception in 2006, even participating in the first ever rendition – a brother vs. brother match-up where Eli Manning’s Giants were defeated by Peyton Manning’s Colts.
But, in recent years, as the wins dissipated, so too did the network’s eagerness to schedule the Giants – the team going from multiple SNF games a year to zero.
This year, the Giants forced their way back into the SNF spotlight. After once again getting shut-out of the time-slot, a four game win streak made people believe in their excitement again.
Now, in a game nobody foresaw being a primetime game, the Cleveland Browns visit MetLife stadium – a game that was supposed to be the return of Odell Beckham Jr. He’s not the only one who will be missing the game, as the Giants will be without their star corner, James Bradberry, and their offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett.
The Giants’ offense is in flux – the quarterback position featuring more questions than answers and former Browns head coach, Freddie Kitchens, tasked with calling the plays. They’ll have to punch above their weight class to beat the Browns.
If the Giants can beat the Browns and stay in the running for the NFC East, it’ll add to their long list of memorable moments on SNF.
Ahead of the primetime showdown from MetLife, let’s take a look at that list – the NY Giants’ most memorable Sunday Night Football on NBC moments:
Honorable Mentions
12/11/2016: NY Giants defeat Dallas Cowboys, 10-7
– Easily the best moment of the Ben McAdoo era, as Janoris Jenkins and the Giants defense shuts down the Cowboys offense while Odell Beckahm Jr. takes a slant 61 yards for a touchdown, just enough to beat their rivals at home.
