Head coach Joe Judge decided to roll the dice on tonight’s play calling. Instead of opting to kick two field goals in the first half, the Giants went for it on fourth down in the red zone. Both attempts failed and the Giants only came away with three points after three trips to the end zone.

Playing with a backup quarterback, Judge should’ve just taken the points, but for years the Giants’ playbook was stale. It’s hard to get mad now seeing the team taking risks when they have nothing to lose. However, the playcalling on fourth down seemed a little odd including having punter Riley Dixon throw a pass to the end zone.

Seeing the Giants unable to convert on short fourth downs shows another element Daniel Jones brings to the offense. The team could’ve asked Jones to keep and run for the first down himself. Not so much with Colt McCoy.
