NY Giants extend Logan Ryan.
The NY Giants made a very smart move extending Logan Ryan. His play and leadership are invaluable to the team’s secondary.
The NY Giants and Logan Ryan gifted NY Giants fans a huge present on Christmas Morning. Logan announced a 3-year extension himself on Twitter:
The NY Giants and Logan Ryan agreed to a 3-year extension worth $31 million with $20 million guaranteed. This move is huge news for both sides as the Giants just locked down their leader and voice of the secondary for the next three years and now Logan won’t hit free agency.
The team signed Logan mainly due to Xavier McKinney’s broken leg injury sustained during training camp. Logan stepped in lining up next to Jabrill Peppers and formed an intriguing 1-2 punch at safety.
Logan came in and immediately made a much-needed impact from the safety position. He’s racked up 83 tackles, 1 sack, 4 QB hits, one tackle for a loss, a game-clinching interception, 3 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and 9 pass deflections on the year. Ryan’s impact and importance to the organization goes far beyond the stat sheet and goes deeper than just the football field.
Ryan has been a steady, calm, and consistent presence for the team’s young (and unproven) secondary. He has brought an edge to this defense from the backline that has been sorely missed since Antrel Rolle.
NY Giants fans should be all smiles today as they enjoy the holidays, spend time with their family and loved ones, and open some fun gifts and presents. A Logan Ryan 3-year extension is the icing on the cake. Credit to Joe Judge for signing his guy and then rewarding him with a second contract.
