Patrick Surtain – CB, Alabama

Surtain, in all likelihood, will be the first cornerback to hear his name called and very possibly could still be available by the time Giants make their pick.

An absolute ballhawk, Surtain just might be an ideal complement opposite James Bradberry was a shutdown cornerback in a division loaded with elite and speedy wide receivers.

Outside cornerback remains among the most glaring deficiencies on the Giants’ roster.

Surtain, 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds, has the ideal length that defensive coordinators covet at cornerback, and has proven to be a consistently productive defensive back.

As a junior this season, Surtain produced 32 total tackles, one interception — that he returned for a touchdown — along with one fumble recovery and a career-high 10 pass breakups.

Given Joe Judge’s relationship with Alabama head coach Nick Saban, it wouldn’t be the least bit surprising if the Giants choose a Crimson Tide defensive back for the second consecutive year after tabbing Xavier McKinney in the second-round back in April.
