Evan Engram is in the nearly unprecedented position of making the Pro Bowl for the first time, despite it being during the most disappointing season of his career, and potentially having a change of scenery be in the best interest for him and the NY Giants.

Garrett’s system was expected to exploit mismatches created by Engram’s speed, explosiveness, and athleticism, particularly deep over the middle of the field, but instead struggled to consistently involve the 26-year-old tight end.

Engram caught just 63 of his 102 targets for 654 yards and one touchdown, while dropping eight passes and producing a 60.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.

It seems apparent that Engram is miscast for Garrett’s system, but is gifted enough to thrive in a scheme that plays to his strengths. Meanwhile, given that his fifth-year option that carries a $6 million price tag is not guaranteed until the new league year begins, Engram could wind up being a cap casualty for the cap-strapped Giants.

Possible NFL Draft targets:

Kyle Pitts (Florida), Pat Freiermuth (Penn State), Brevin Jordan (Miami), Tommy Tremble (Notre Dame)
