The Giants were looking for a tight end who could help their offense become more dynamic, so they brought in the former Dallas Cowboy, Martellus Bennett.

Cowboys tight ends – specifically Jason Witten, sometimes seem like they only exist to convert third downs and score touchdowns against the Giants. While Bennett flashed on the Cowboys, the room for opportunity just didn’t exist – he wanted to be a starter.

The Giants were the team that gave Bennett that chance – and the early returns were fantastic. In the first game of the season, he scored a touchdown against his former team.

Giants’ fans rejoiced – they not only took Bennett away from the Cowboys, but now he was scoring on them too.

Bennett wouldn’t go on to be the tight end of the future that the team hoped, but he still turned in a decent season for a team that believed in him. In his lone season with the Giants, he recorded 55 receptions for 626 yards – scoring five touchdowns.

After proving he could be a starting tight-end with the Giants, Bennett would go on to have a great career – playing with the Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers. He reached the pinnacle of the football world – playing big role in the Patriots’ Super Bowl victory of the Atlanta Falcons, recording five catches for 62 yards as they completed their famous 28-3 comeback.
