Odell Beckham Trade Details

NY Giants received: OG Kevin Zeitler, DB Jabrill Peppers, 1st round pick  (#17 overall) in the 2019 Draft, and a 3rd round pick (#95 overall) in the 2019 Draft.

Browns received: Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon

The Odell Beckham Jr. trade itself was one of the most prominent and surprising player-for-player trades in recent NFL memory. Rarely do trades involve two players from both teams but rarely do they entail marquee superstar former All-Pro players at wide receiver.

The Giants traded their best asset and most recognizable player in Odell. They also traded Oliver Vernon who was the team’s best (and lone proven) pass rusher. The two players were key figures on both sides of the ball in New York and gave the team productive seasons before being shipped to Cleveland.

In return, the NY Giants got back Kevin Zeitler, Jabrill Peppers, and two picks in the 2019 draft. Zeitler has been the team’s starting right guard for the past two seasons and has started 31 of 32 games. Jabrill has been the Giants’ starting safety and defensive weapon the last two years and was a team captain in 2020.

With the two draft picks, the Giants made two defensive selections to shore up the front seven. The Giants added Dexter Lawrence in the first round at #17 overall. He has played every game at defensive tackle the last two years. In the third round, the team added Oshane Ximines from Old Dominion and he has been an EDGE rusher and outside linebacker for two seasons.
