As some of the top quarterbacks in the NFL play musical chairs this offseason, the NY Giants are more committed than ever to Daniel Jones.

“We really and truly believe he’s the guy,” NY Giants general manager Dave Gettleman said Tuesday. “We’ve got conviction in hi.m He’s got all the physical skills. How many of us after two years were great at our job? We believe in Daniel.

“We’ve done two years of evaluations on Daniel Jones and we truly believe he’s the guy. No need to go looking. It takes time. Everyone needs to understand that.”

Jones regressed dramatically in his second season, and first in offensive coordinator Jason Garrett’s scheme. In 2020, completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 2,943 yards with 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 14 games.

Still, from a leadership standpoint and skill-set perspective, Gettleman, head coach Joe Judge, and the Giants, firmly believe that the Giants have found their franchise quarterback.

“We have full confidence in Daniel,” Judge said. We saw lots of improvement. Nothing has changed in our feelings on Daniel.”

Now, as Jones enters a pivotal third NFL season, Gettleman, Judge, and the NY Giants’ front office must continue to bolster the supporting cast around him. Especially at wide receiver, both via the NFL Draft as well as free agency, as finding dynamic field-stretching pass-catchers could unlock Jones’ full potential and possibly elevate the Giants into legitimate contenders in 2021.
