Former NY Giants wide receiver Damion Ratley signed with the Detroit Lions Wednesday.

Ratley, 25, spent part of the 2020 season with the NY Giants, after being chosen by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth-round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Claimed off waivers by the NY Giants after being one of Cleveland’s final roster cuts Last summer, Ratley appeared in five games for the Giants, catching four passes for 63 yards while averaging 15.8 yards per reception. In addition to his role on offense, Ratley also played 22 special teams snaps for New York in 2020.

Ratley has appeared in 31 games, including six starts, with 29 receptions for 407 yards and a touchdown.

The NY Giants waived Ratley last October, and shortly thereafter he was signed to the Houston Texans’ practice squad, but never appeared in a game for the Texans.

Similarly to when he was claimed by the NY Giants, it seems the Lions are drawn to Ratley’s speed, given the fact that he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds at Texas A&M’s Pro Day.

The Detroit Lions’ receiving corps will look significantly different in 2021, after losing Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones via free agency. Golladay, of course, agreed to terms on a four-year deal with the Giants while Jones agreed to a two-year pact with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
