NY Giants Draft Needs

2021 Draft Picks: #11, #42, #76, #116, #196, and #201

Biggest Positions of Need: Offensive Tackle, Offensive Guard, EDGE Rusher/Linebacker

Analysis:

The NY Giants have already had a very busy offseason. The team has gone out and signed several external free agents in the 2021 offseason. GM Dave Gettleman has done an excellent job targeting logical players at key positions of need.

Already this offseason, the Giants have completely revamped their receiver corps, they filled their #2 cornerback spot with Adoree’ Jackson, they added Kyle Rudolph at tight end, and they signed two defensive linemen to replace Dalvin Tomlinson. Elsewhere, the team resigned Leonard Williams, brought back Nate Solder on a team-friendly deal, and they replenished depth across the roster.

The Giants still have some holes on their roster and there are several legitimate concerns. The offensive line is shaky at best and the Giants may need to rely on a bevy of young, inexperienced players thrust into larger, starting positions. They simply can’t go into the regular season with just Shane Lemieux, Will Hernandez, Jonotthan Harrison, and the newly-signed Zach Fulton.

They need to address the interior of the line and keeping attacking that position group. Andrew Thomas will hold down Daniel Jones’ blindside on the left but the right tackle situation is completely unknown at this point. The Giants could add a guy like Rashawn Slater here to plug and play at RT or kick him inside to guard.

The Giants’ defense positively surprised many people in 2020. The group played with maximum effort and heart and they became a sturdy unit that was tough to score touchdowns on. As exciting as the defense looks, it still is in desperate need of a proven pass rusher off the EDGE who can cause havoc all game long for opposing quarterbacks. Micah Parsons may be a fit in round one, as would the Miami EDGE duo of Gregory Rousseau and Jaelan Phillips.
