The NY Giants will have to wait their turn to make their draft selection in the 1st Round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Barring an unexpected trade-up (you can’t ever rule anything out with Dave Gettleman), the Giants will be picking 11th overall in the 1st round. Dave Gettleman has only traded up throughout his entire managerial career. Not once has traded back in any round, so that is something to be considered.

In this mock draft, the Giants should come out pretty satisfied with their rookies for the 2021  season.

There are several great players in this draft, along with a lot of questions hanging amongst unprecedented uncertainty surrounding the NFL Draft. Never before will so many players be drafted so high without playing the previous season before in college as many of the draft’s top prospects opted out of their respective 2020-2021 seasons.

Here, we take a look at a realistic mock draft of what the Giants might do. All picks selected will be with the great help of the Pro Football Network’s Mock Draft simulator.

Here is our latest 7-round NY Giants mock draft, including trades:

Round 1: TRADE!!

NY Giants Trade #11 overall and their second 6rth round pick (#196 overall)  and to the Arizona Cardinals for #16 overall, their 2nd round pick (#49 overall), and a 2022 5th round pick.

Round 1, #16 Overall: The NY Giants select: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

Other Players Considered (At #11 Overall): Kyle Pitts, Jaylen Waddle, and Azeez Ojulari

In our mock, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner will be coming to the Big Apple and joining the New York Giants.

Every NFL team could use Smith’s unrivaled ability to create separation, make catches in traffic, and simply make guys look silly in the open field with ridiculous jukes, cuts, and route-running ability.

According to GMEN HQ’s Matt Lombardo, multiple NFL scouts believe the Giants are targeting DeVonta Smith with the 11th pick.

The NY Giants offense has already been stocked and reloaded this offseason in free-agent signings such as Kenny Golladay, Kyle Rudolph, John Ross, and Devontae Booker. However, the team could still use more depth at running back, offensive line, and wide receiver.

In this mock, however, we took a chance on trading with the Cardinals at #16. With the 11th pick, the Giants could’ve selected top targets in Kyle Pitts or Jaylen Waddle. After playing the board right, we ended up dropping back five spots, gaining a mid-2nd-round pick, and an extra pick to use in next year’s 2022 draft.

With DeVonta still on the board at #16, the value was far too good to pass up. Daniel Jones will be adding another piece to the puzzle and it will round out what would be an intriguing, exciting, and versatile pass-catching group.
