Round 4, #116 Overall: The NY Giants select: Hamilcar Rashed Jr., EDGE, Oregon State

A common theme here, the Giants double-dip on defense in Rounds three and four. This time, the Giants added more pop to their pass rush through Hamilcar Rashed Jr.

Rashed racked up 16.5 sacks in the Pac-12 over 4 years. Along with that, he added 4 forced fumbles and 36 tackles for a loss in his career. He earned 1st Team All-American honors in 2019, to go with 1st Team All-Pac 12, leading the nation in tackles for losses, and leading the Pac 12 in sacks.

Weaver best projects as an off-ball EDGE rusher who will be primarily tasked with harassing quarterbacks and coming in on obvious pass situations. There is not much clarity regarding the Giants’ EDGE group and Rashed could immediately challenge for significant snaps in the Giants hybrid and amoeba front seven.
