Even after signing Adoree’ Jackson, the NY Giants might not be done shopping for veteran cornerback help

The NY Giants may not be done spending money this offseason to truly field their best team in years.

As reported earlier this offseason, there were talks the NY Giants had mutual interest with Jason McCourty. Now, it appears the mutual interest has solidified itself into an in-person meeting.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted that the Giants will have McCourty in the team headquarters as the Giants look to sign and seal another in-person free-agent visit and turn it into a signing. Another source confirmed the meeting took place Friday. Already this offseason, the NY Giants have signed Kenny Golladay, Danny Shelton, and Adoree’ Jackson after visiting with the team first.

The move makes sense as the Giants look to further shore up their secondary with some experience, veteran leadership, and versatility across the entire backline. Jason McCourty played for Coach Judge in 2018 and 2019 so there is experience with one another.

McCourty has played nickel back inside the slot and can line up outside. He is a Rutgers alumnus which ties in with Logan Ryan. Both players are also former Patriots and Jason’s twin brother, Devin, was a long-time teammate of Logan’s in New England so there is another mutual relationship here.

McCourty played the majority of his career in Tennesse where Adoree’ Jackson is coming from after being the Titans’ 1st round pick in 2017. Jason McCourty is a New Jersey product, born and raised in Nyack, New York. A homecoming in New York would be a welcoming sign for both sides.
