Ronnie Perkins EDGE

Scouting Report

In 2020, the NY Giants’ newly-hired defensive coordinator Patrick Graham transformed the Giants’ defense from suspect to superb, elevating the Giants from the 30th ranked defense in the NFL to 9th.

Graham did this without a primary edge rusher, instead generating pass rush opportunities through the Giants’ strong secondary and stout defensive line.

The addition of a dynamic defensive player like Ronnie Perkins through the mid-rounds of the NFL Draft could fill a major hole in the Giants’ pass rush and take the defense as a whole to the next level.

Perkins is a productive pass rusher with at least five sacks in each of his three seasons at Oklahoma State University. He is proficient at bursting through tight gaps and generating constant pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

While Perkins is considered undersized for his position at 6’2″ and 253 lbs, if he were chosen by the Giants in the upcoming draft, he has the potential to blossom in Patrick Graham’s system and benefit from the Giants’ already-stacked defensive squad.
