Kendrick Green Guard

Scouting Report

Under Gettleman’s tenure as General Manager, the Giants’ offensive line has undergone several makeovers and the results have been mediocre at best. In 2020, the unit as a whole was a disaster, ranking 31st in the NFL by Pro Football Focus and leading to Daniel Jones being sacked 45 times. This was in part due to the underwhelming performances of guards Will Hernandez and Shane Lemieux, who both allowed for a pressure rate of at least 8%.

If the Giants don’t choose to pursue a guard in with their first or second pick, there is still plenty of talent to choose from in the later rounds, like Kendrick Green from Illinois. At 6’5″ and 315 lbs, Green has been passed for his versatility, since he can play both the guard and center positions, as well as his proficiency in run-blocking.

While his pass-blocking leaves much to be desired, Green has the potential to develop into an NFL starter and can be an improvement over Hernandez or Lemieux if either continue to struggle into the 2021 season.
