Chazz  Surratt Linebacker

Scouting Report

As previously noted, Patrick Graham, the Giants’ defensive coordinator, has been exceptional so far with getting the most out of his players. Blake Martinez, Jabrill Peppers, and James Bradberry all surpassed expectations because of his defensive schemes. It’s exciting to think about how much the Giants will improve in the 2021 season with more impressive defensive playmakers from the draft for Graham to work with.

To add depth to a currently-thin linebacker unit, the Giants could target Chazz Surratt, a senior out of North Carolina, in the mid-rounds. Previously a quarterback, Surratt has become an explosive defensive talent, earning 2x First Team All-ACC with the Tar Heels.

He is considered a developing prospect as he is still adjusting to the linebacker position, but his toughness and potential upside cannot be denied. He is a tackle machine, similar to Blake Martinez, and it would be interesting to see how he would fit into Graham’s system.
