Round 2 (42nd Overall): Jamin Davis, LB, Kentucky

Gettleman’s got great value out of his second round picks since 2018 – drafting presumed first round picks in lineman Will Hernandez and safety Xavier McKinney with past selections. While it would be amazing if Tulsa’s Zaven Collins or Penn State’s Jayson Oweh fell to 42nd, Kentucky’s Jamin Davis is no slouch either.

While it took him some time to shine while playing in Kentucky, Davis erupted to the tune of 102 tackles and three interceptions last season. His athletic ability, coverage skills, pass-rushing potential and leadership prowess has sent him rocketing up draft boards – some predicting he could be a late first round selection.

While Davis may lack the experience coveted by general managers, his tape from last season was so good that Gettleman will give Graham a chance to turn him into a big-time player. After missing out on players like Micah Parsons, Gregory Rousseau and Jaelan Phillips in round one, the Giants get their own defensive player brimming with potential.

It was reported that Gettleman held 2019 Kentucky first rounder, Josh Allen, in high-regard – even agonizing over deciding between him and the team’s quarterback in Jones with the sixth overall pick. Well, it all comes full circle when the Giants select Allen’s former understudy in Davis.
