Round 4 (116th Overall): Milton Williams, DL, Louisiana Tech

The Giants’ lost one of their best players this off-season when defensive lineman, Dalvin Tomlinson, took his talents to the Minnesota Vikings. In the fourth round, they get another player to help lessen the pain of losing their former defensive captain – drafting Louisiana Tech’s Milton Williams.

The leader of the Bulldogs’ defense was a force throughout his college career, capping it off with earning All-Conference-USA honors last season. The hulking defensive lineman was a nightmare for his opponents, wreaking havoc while playing on both the inside and outside areas of the line.

Williams will need some time to adjust to the NFL, but his athleticism and ability should help him carve out some playing time. His draft stock has continually shot up with each season, showing the ability to evolve his game and not compromise his ceiling.

Gettleman signed a mix of veterans to aid the defensive line after losing Tomlinson, inking Austin Johnson, Ifeadi Odenigbo and Danny Shelton to deals. While Williams’ career will likely begin as the back-up to the team’s mix of veterans, he gives the Giants’ their best shot at a long-term replacement for their former star defensive tackle.
